The Greater Baltimore Model A Ford Club
Hello and welcome to the internet home and website of The Greater Baltimore Model A Ford Club.

This site is dedicated to the Model A Ford of 1928, 1929, 1930, & 1931; a short period in the overall time line of the automobile, but an important period as the Ford Motor Company transitioned from the "tin-lizzie" of the past to the "New Ford" of the future.

Excerpt from May's President's Message in "The Steering Column"

"(The) Newbie Tour to Southern Maryland...

Dick Alexander has planned and provided a great information package to help assure our successful trip. The Newbies (first time overnight drivers), coached by the Veterans (experienced tour drivers), have been fixing, building, tweaking, lubing, tuning, and doing anything else on their pre-trip preparations list to get their “A's” ready. That also includes those “road test” drives just to listen to those Model A “sounds” so they get to know what is “normal.”

It is called “confidence”. Funny how soon that becomes second nature when you are out on the road touring. You go along for miles or even days and suddenly there is a new sound. It may be a squeak, a vibration, a rattle, or maybe something new from the front. I can easily recall a few of my own anxious experiences on the road alone, hundreds of miles from home. Most often it was only the nature of the car, just being a Model A Ford.

Many thanks to Ken Miller for chairing our Christmas Party Committee this year. If you haven't already, call Ken and offer your services to help make this another great celebration. Your experience could be just what he needs to get the job done for us.

I've saved the best news for last! I got a call from Hugh Smith, President of MARC. He had some really great news. Our newsletter, "The Steering Column", has been selected as the Best MARC Region Newsletter in the country for 2009. The judging committee reviewed more than 1,700 newsletters from 104 Regions over the course of 2009, and they judged ours better than aaalll the rest!! Like all of you, I knew we had a great editor in Betty Fisher and enjoy our fantastic newsletter. Now everybody else knows it too! Congratulations, Betty Fisher, Editor of "The Steering Column", from all of us! You sure make us look good!"
